Austria wins team gold in parallel slalom at the Olympics

Germany took the second place, Norway came in third.

The team competitions in parallel slalom (mixed discipline) finished at Olympic Games in Beijing.

In this discipline, athletes compete against each other on parallel giant slalom courses during a series of races and each country is represented by both women and men. Each team gets a point if its skier wins the race. If the round ends in a tie, the combined time of the fastest man and woman on each team determines the winner.

The gold medal was won by the Austrian team, which competed against Germany in the final. The teams won two races each, and the best time shown by the Austrians allowed them to win the gold medal.

The bronze medal was also decided by the best time, and third place went to Norway, which competed with the U.S. team.
